Monthly competition October edition! - Ollie - 01-10-2012 01:46 AM

Edit: Entries are now closed!

Welcome to the first Sims 3 competition from SimsForums!
Yahoo

Without further ado the first Sims 3 competition is...
Building the best looking house UNDER §20,000.

How to enter:
Your Entry must be composed of at least 4-10 pictures of the house (at the least 1 showing the front of the house, 1 showing the back and two others showing the interior of the house, you may include up to 6 more pictures of the house if you wish to). You may also make a video of your house and post it as your entry. You must post your entry's in this thread.

Is CC allowed? Yes.

When is the deadline? The 25th of October.

How will the competition be judged? On the 25th of October, when the entry's have stopped coming in, we will open a poll to the public allowing everyone to judge the entry's. On the 30th of October the poll will be taken down and a winner will be announced.

Can you vote for yourself? NO. If you win and it turns out that you have voted for yourself, the winning position will be given to the person with the second most amount of votes.

Will there be a prize for the winner? Possibly.

That's a nice idea. I'll see if I can come up with something next weekend. Are you going to post an entry, Ollie?

RE: Monthly competition October edition! - Ollie - 02-10-2012 01:19 AM

Yep, I think I will.

Count me in for this. Even I should be able to knock up something decent in that length of time! Biggrin

Oh, I'll have to work on an entry! Yay!

Here's my submission! I call it "October House". So clever, I know!

It comes in at just under 20,000.

I wanted to do a lot more with the lawn, but ran out of money.

Suitable for a single sim or a couple who's not looking to have children! There is also plenty of room on the lot for expansion.

Thanks!

Awesome! I still have to start on mine (I'm terrible with deadlines so hopefully these competitions should somewhat help me with getting my homework in on time). I think I shall begin on it this weekend.

Here is my attempt. I have called it Lake View Holiday Cabin. I should mention that I built it by the lake in a world called Pine Valley V2 by Richdre. It's on a 15x10 lot and costs $19,912 furnished (or $13,476 unfurnished).

Here comes the pic spam!

This is a final call for all entries. Within the next 24 hours or so no more entries will be accepted for this competition (but you may still show off the house you made if you wish) and a poll will go up.

150 Ely Road, Riverview was used as the plot for this (which may have been my major mistake, as much of the land I'd paid for went unused).

As Ollie never said anything about a garden, I concentrated on the house. It cost §18,601 furnished.

Before we begin I will admit this one sucks! Biggrin

Here's the back.

Here's the very basic layout.

Here's a close up of the bedroom & bathroom sections.

What this home has in sheer hideousness abundant is tempered in practicality (he says, clutching at straws)

There's a small basement accessible by spiral stairs which contains a washing machine, tumble dryer, bog standard computer, nectar maker & nectar storage rakes (your Sim will probably want to drink a lot of nectar living here)

Also the money saved from tarting the place up has been reinvested into a three seater sofa & a big eff-off sized telly. Got my priorities right! Tongue
