LMFAO. That post made my day.
I'm hoping that my mum is willing to pay around $6000 for the french trip.

Even if you're "one in a million" on a planet of around 6,840,507,003 people. There are still 6,840 people just like you. just saying.

I'll see your "place in the scheme of things" and raise you a whole universe.

well doesn't that put things in a whole new perspective
justing knowing how insignificant we are in this universe makes everything we do pointless.
what we do won't affect the universe in any way. if an asteroid hit planet earth right now, nobody in the universe would care. there could be an intelligent civilisation just like ours right now being destroyed and we wouldn't even have a clue of what's happening to them.

Is there intelligent life out there in space? I'll settle for finding some here on earth.
Is our existence pointless? Only if we don't enjoy it.

HA! Intelligent life on Earth? You'll just find a bunch of thick bar stewards
I guess that's not such a nice thing to say.
Well, you give meaning to your life. I found mind.
I'm irreligious, I'm an atheist, but, I find meaning in my life and I am happy with my life

I find the fact that we're just a tiny speck in an ever expandeing universe kind of refreshing. No matter how big our ego gets we're always reminded that as far as the rest of the universe is concerned (if there is intelligent life out there, I guess), we don't really matter.
Another interesting and slightly romantic fact - most of the atoms that we're each made of came from stars! Stars that burst and died in a glorious blaze of fricken awesomeness.
RE: The Official Nonsense Thread - serp3821 - 25-07-2012 11:46 AM
Yes that's very true.
We were once stars. We are stardust, well sort of:
"In some indirect sense, yes. Any element heavier than hydrogen is ultimately a product of the nuclear fusion that takes place within stars. When big stars die, they tend to explode a lot of heavier elements out into space, which become nebulae. These nebulae often coalesce into new stars and, sometimes, planets. Some of those planets (well, one at least) have people on them, so people are in a sense made of "star dust"."

So wait Steven, does that mean this company http://www.stardustconfectionery.com is getting millions of British children to partake in cannibalism?
It... it... all seemed... so, so harmless
