One thing I'm wondering - BrokenHeartTheory - 16-03-2008 10:20 PM

Are we going to be controlling the entire town at once, because of this new time thing?

How families grow up together, will we be able to control the Smiths and the James's at the same time?

People seem to be talking about this, but we won't know for sure for a while, so.

Speculations?

I think being able to switch control over to any player created sim at ounce is the only way to make sense of this whole universal time and open world neighborhood thing. Personally I love the idea a little more each time I think about it.

[glow=red,2,300]Idk, we might be able to switch of households but i don't think at the same time[/glow]

Here's a quick list of how universal time might work...
  • Focus on one household while others are in “auto-pilot”
  • Easy switching between households
  • Warnings of other sims activities
  • Slower ageing, turn off ageing (cheat)
  • Cameras of what other sims are doing
  • Ability to redo certain amount of time

Let’s say you get a warning “a fire has started at the Browns residents” and for some reason, you, well, didn’t notice it, you can go back in time. Depending on how much “time machine juice” you have (given based on how happy the town is) a certain margin of time can be traveled back to. Sorry if that confused you even more.  :-\

I get it. I think it's an awesome idea, but probably to complicated in EA's mind for the average boy or girl.

just found this.

so apparently you DON'T control them all at once, I don't think anything big will happen but they will still age. (that last bit is just a theory of mine)

I still think that given the no lot open neighborhood system, there will be fast load less switching between households. It's not like if one sim moves in with another sim and you choose to control the new household you can still control the other family members in the old  household.
It should be like this...
  • Game starts
  • Choose household to play
  • Neighborhood loads
  • Play as any sim in the selected household and switch between them as in sims 1&2
  • pause game zoom out a little and click on another playable house
  • Message appears asking if you want to switch households, click yes
  • Game unfreezes and you are in control of the other household with out loading
  • No time was lost in switch
  • other household goes into auto pilot

that makes sense.
