The Official Nonsense Thread

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
It is fantastic! Well, I liked it. I guess if you are a fan of Star Wars then you will like it. It's got all the necessary components - exciting scenes of spaceships zipping about, good versus evil, lightsabers and capes. And ridiculously cute droids. Also quite a lot of humour. I really enjoyed it and hope that I can go to see it again with my brother next week. If you've got some days off over crimbo, go!

Christmas Eve! I hope you have all been sufficiently good this year that Santa comes to stick something nice in your stockings. Sleep tight and no peeping!

There we are, Xmas over for another year. It'll be round again in about five minutes! I consumed sherry, turkey and sprouts. I wore a paper crown and read out cracker jokes that barely made sense. I held my tongue when relatives made comments lifted directly from their Daily Mail. I watched an animated movie. So, yup, Christmas- complete!

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves Yes

By now it's New Year's Eve for you lot across the pond. Be wild but stay safe! You don't want to end up on the receiving end of a breathalyser!

Cracker jokes are the best. Would it be all right if I posted a few really bad (not dirty, honest!) jokes in this thread?

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
I am sorry for not being around as much as usual since New Year. I hope everyone has had a good start to the year and Minty is feeling much better. Somehow work has been very stressful for the last few weeks and yesterday I even started glancing through a jobs website for the first time in about twelve years. There was nothing useful there, but I figured I may as well look occasionally seeing as my current place is driving me crazy. So I have been a little preoccupied.

Definitely give us some cracker jokes if you have any good ones, simspeaker. Maybe next year I'll make the crackers myself and then I could include jokes!

In other news I have started watching "House Of Cards" (the USA variant) and have been enjoying it a lot. The best US telly, I find, happens when they show you the story without repetition or explanation. And without telling you how you should feel about it. Like in The Wire. Contrast that with something like CSI, which I used to like watching because of my wild love of all crime drama but drive me mad because an hour episode could have been done in 15 minutes if you removed the adverts, the unnecessary explanations, the recaps and the emoting. Also they could not depict laboratory science to save their lives - all those aspirated pipettes! But anyway, House Of Cards yay! Clapping

I've still been doing my theatre trips as well. Saw "Les Liaisons Dangereuses", which was very good apart from Dominic West fluffing his lines a few times. Sometimes it's interesting when that happens so you can see how it is handled. In this case his mightily on-the-ball co-star prompting him discretely. Lucky for him that she knew his part as well as her own!

I started a new Sims game yesterday as there's still nothing quite like it was distracting me from real life. I've got a farmer called McDonald (why not?!) who can only make a living from what he can grow or collect. Quite tricky in the winter when all his crops are dormant. I thought it would be a good chance to try the chicken coop, which I haven't really looked at yet, but he can't afford it!

And finally we have a little bit of snow here! It was forecast to arrive overnight so you can imagine how grateful I was to my obnoxiously loud neighbours for waking me up every few hours so I could peep out of the window to see if it had begun. I'd be tempted to go chuck a snowball through her window to give her an early alarm call, but she's safe on the third floor. With my aim I'd be lucky to hit a static target the size of a bus at ten paces! The snow looks really beautiful but is melting already. I like to see it early, before people start walking on it, to try to guess which animals made tracks in the snow. Although I think it's 100% fox prints today.

Sorry I haven't been that active of late. Work and various games. I just posted a new story on my blog. This has been a very productive family. Once I hit the 10th gen I think I'll try a new family or something.

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Here we go again. I, too, have been mostly absent lately, and I wish I could just say I was studying. Well, I was supposed to study since I have my oral exam tomorrow. (After that, no more job training! Real wages! Wooh!)

Actually I've just gotten tired, first of the Sims and then of the computer in general. I figured since I have an office job that requires me to stare at a screen 9-5, I should look for a hobby that's not also sceen-based. I picked up crochet again and produced two pairs of gloves. Now I'm trying to make a beanie hat but am constantly messing it up and have to go back.

Of course I also did some studying. The friday before Christmas we (my class) presented our final project, which was a survey amongst the students. Nothing to fancy but the head teacher was happy with it. Now I don't have to go to school ever again. My last day was supposed to be the 22nd Dec, but I just didn't show up for that and nobody cared. That's about everything you need to know about job training schools.

I think we've all been in a post Christmas dumps, although the snow cheered me up. Enough of it to make a change without making the world a struggle to travel in.

Glenn Frey of The Eagles has now died. Hotel California now checked out.

It has been a weird few weeks that's for sure.

Congratulations to Wanda on completing your studies. It's a nice feeling!
