RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Thanks Caspin! I got 100 % on the exam (which probably says more about the exam than about me, but well, I'm not going to complain)! Tomorrow I'm trying to bake a cake for my co-workers so we can celebrate.

100%? Is that all? Tongue

My workplace wanted me to work this Saturday half day for double time. Sounds good until they said "we expect you to achieve the following productivity targets or you will not be invited again..." - they didn't even get the chance to say what the targets were before being told to ram it: asking me to give up my Saturday to work the same amount of time it takes me to travel there to begin with, with I suspected a "there's been a change of plan" once arriving & not getting the double time if the arbeitrary target wasn't met. This shower's verbal promises aren't worth the paper they're written on.

"But we'll buy you breakfast from McDonalds!" came the reply Nah

BTW, did ever a tweet come back to haunt someone!

Can only agree with @johncrossmirror, Claudio Ranieri is a terrible choice as Leicester manager

It's been snowing here in New Jersey like crazy since Friday night. We've probably gotten about 2 feet or so in my town. I hate snow. BangHead

And I'm also incredibly tired from shoveling that heavy, wet stuff.

Also: Louis van Gaal says Man Utd fans are right to boo him

I just happened to see this in my Twitter feed. Don't know who that is.

Rifftrax - Some movies have it coming! http://www.rifftrax.com

Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Rifftrax. Just a fan. I think they're awesome. BeatingHeart

Incredible pictures of the snow in the US - cars just disappeared under heaps of it. I might quite enjoy being snowed-in, but not if the power failed and I didn't have sufficient water or food, which seems to be happening to a lot of people. I hope all of our snowy simmers take care and keep warm.

What I do think it is a really odd suggestion is that people use the unit of a dog to measure how much snow has fallen! This image was on the news, along with multiple other references in linked articles to measuring the snowfall in dog units.

Poor pooches! This is just weird.

Wanda - well done with your 100%! I hope your cake turns out well (if not, cover it in chocolate and people will eat and enjoy it regardless). You might be amused, given your love of babies, that your sim in my game had her first baby yesterday - a girl. She named her Harriet. The circumstances are slightly unfortunate - she became pregnant after a fling with a farmer (who was experiencing a mid-life crisis) at a party and is now struggling as a single, unemployed mother, since my farmer sim will not leave his wife. But don't worry, I will do something constructive to rescue both from poverty!

I cannot imagine anything that would attract me to work less than a McDonalds breakfast! I don't think I've eaten a McDonalds for about 20 years. I am not sure I have the enzymes needed to digest it any more. I hope you enjoyed your Saturday, Minty, having reclaimed it from those scoundrels!

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Dogs as a unit of hight? That's odd. Once today's teenage internet nerds will be in charge, snowfall will probably be measured in bananas.

Aw, my poor simself! I'ts been forever since I made one myself and this is probably why Biggrin But I'm sure Caspin will find a way to turn everything to good Yes
Oh, and I wouldn't worry about my coworkers and the cake, most of them would eat anything as long as it's free. No, that sounded mean. I like them. I would eat anything that's free, too!

Cold snaps and warm weather. And I keep waking up with pins and needles in my hand. Thought about carpal tunnel but la madre assures me it's just a positional thing.

Been doing a lot of reading, simming, and playing RIFT. I was ready to take somebody's head off their shoulders as far as RIFT is concerned the other day. What sense is there in having an elite boss a level higher than you are (with mobs of his own) and no other players allowed to help you? I understand that if my build was better or my class was different I might have a better chance to take him and his out but there you go.

Other than that, I'm good.

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Wow, two angry emoticons in one post - better take a break from RIFT!

I am also OK, just about. Tomorrow is the last day of January, which has been quite a ridiculous month. It would appear that it's going to end on a low note, with a burst water pipe in the garden (holes are starting to appear all over the place, the ground is breaking up as the water burst though and a small but growing lake is obstructing access to the front door, yet this is not considered urgent work) and a variety of new and interesting health issues affecting relatives who already had enough health problems to be getting along with. Perhaps all will be well once January ends!

I must get a picture of Wanda's sim's daughter!

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
I guess I need a 'just annoyed' emoticon as far as my hand is concerned. But as far as RIFT went, I was furious. I hadn't died in the game for months but dying three times in a row (once because of that boss, twice because I made bad decisions before meeting the boss) and there was no healer around to heal my character up. Just more frustration than I could take.
Now I'm going to wait and get my character to the appropriate level before I take that boss again. Smile
Good health to your and yours, Caspin. Hope all those nasty holes are getting sorted in your garden.

"This weekend will see gale force winds & heavy rain, travel is not advised unless necessary."

Aye right. There's not been enough wind to sail a toy yacht. Muppets!

Getting a bit sinister up here with the JK Rowling row with the MP McGarry. Allegations have come out that the troll she's friendly with online called Brian Spanner QC (he writes a lot of nasty stuff about women) is an alias of the Scotsman newspaper's feature writer Euan McColm.

If proved true, major can of worms & her own cred will take a hit. Meanwhile Tommy Sheridan (you'll remember him!) has libelled McColm on Twitter, accusing him directly of being Spanner, leaving the latter no choice but to either take him to court or see his career ruined.

Elsewhere, there's people wondering why there's a media silence over large numbers of Rangers supporters waiting outside of matches over the last month to assault or throw missiles at leaving fans of other clubs, as well as two journalists being fired by the Herald newspaper for writing less than flattering pieces about the club. Only in Scotland, eh?
