Thumbs Down Do you ever?
Okay, so I have been going through my old threads, and my question for you is do you ever go through your old posts/threads? My lord.... I honestly hate myself! Some of the crap that I posted was just plain stupid! Like honestly. Wacko
I was such a crazy 12 year old!

RE: Do you ever?
Ha - a bit of reminiscing for new year, eh?! No, I don't often read my old posts.

I have an advantage in that I had no internet when I was a kid, so there's no online evidence of my craziness at that age. Big Grin
I only had email and internet when I went to university and I didn't get a mobile phone until the year 2000. It was quite heavy so I didn't often take it out with me. I expect that if I re-read old letters/postcards or could hear some of the phone conversations I had with my friends at that age, I might feel the same as you though, so I wouldn't worry! Smile

RE: Do you ever?
Yes I definitely do! I also like searching posts for my name to see what people said about me. It wasn't pretty Tongue

RE: Do you ever?
I just find it so embarrassing, haha.

I don't think I was mentioned a bunch by others....seeing as I really wasn't apart of the original regulars group. (I.E. Chanel, Rena, Amber, Cassie, Michael, so on and so forth)

RE: Do you ever?
I don't have any old posts here but on the other forum I'm part of I occasionally go down memory lane with old posts. We all make mistakes. Unfortunately the Internet never forgets.

RE: Do you ever?
I wonder if they teach things like this in schools these days? If not, perhaps they should. Having said that, so many teachers and other professionals get into trouble at work because they've written some idiotic thing on facebook, they may not be best placed to offer guidance! If recruiting new staff, one of the first things most people will now do is look up the candidates online to see what kind of person they are or to see whether what they've written on their CV is remotely accurate. It's amazing what you can find and how often people not only blatantly lie on their application but then brag about having done so via the internet. If you've used your real name online there's no escape.

RE: Do you ever?
There were both good and bad things about being on this forum. The good was meeting a bunch of nice and friendly people! The downside, on the other hand, is now looking back at the incomprehensible mess of my old posts.

They barely taught me much of anything about forums and the internet in school, the most I got was about 2 years ago when we had a project which involved creating blogs and then commenting on others' blogs (being taught a little bit of commenting etiquette).
We do have the occasional guest speaker who may reference how trash posting on Facebook or other social media sites can lead to (essentially) ruining your life.

Luckily I'm pretty much certain I haven't associated my full name on here and I've pretty much deleted all old crap from Facebook (although that stuff should've been pretty harmless). Overall I've kept a strong enough barrier between real life and my sims past.

RE: Do you ever?
I can't remember ever being told how to behave online in school Dunno
However I'm kind of glad that the social media site I spent half of my teenage years on was deleted in 2013 Biggrin

RE: Do you ever?
Well, that does help - erase all evidence of Wanda's past misdeeds! Smile

I think I've said this before but I follow the rule whereby I don't say anything to anyone online that I wouldn't say to the person's face. Being able to use anonymity online to protect your privacy is a good idea but to use it as a way to needlessly offend or bully strangers is not acceptable. Unfortunately you see it more and more. I can only assume that people have been gleefully awaiting the digital age so that they can throw off all pretence of civility and troll the heck out of anyone they like. Doesn't say much for human beings, does it.

In other news, I was clearing out a drawer and found a notebook from my youth in which I appear to have written some horrific poems. Thank goodness I was not online at that time of angst. The horror! I was tempted to poke out my own eyes so that I wouldn't have to read it any more! So even back in the day we were in danger of embarrassing ourselves to a great degree!
