RE: Assorted stories
So I have another story from the Ficus family vault. My beloved hydrophobe has passed away but before he left he had a last rough time with friends of the deadly Mr. Tub.

The Agony of Being Chris

A year after Chris' triumph over the dastardly Mr. Tub, he moved his family to a new home. He worked out by night and worked hard by day. That's when the gnomes began to visit. Chris caught one in the bathroom and that's when his suspicions began to grow.

Then, late one night, Chris woke up to find himself immersed in deep water. He could hear the vile stuff lapping in his ears - the battle-cry of the Tub-people! He had to escape! It was only through the most desperate exertion that he escaped.

For nearly a week Chris lived in seclusion; hiding from the sun, from friends, and especially from the shower. During his frantic escape from the pool he'd raced past a shower and he was sure it had mocked him. Driven to despair, Kath sought for something to distract her.

Recognizing that he had a traitor in his midst, Chris got to work breaking the vile shower's spirit. Anything to get it to reveal even one hint of what the Tub-people had planned for him.

Kath recognized she was dealing with another obsession and quickly put a stop to Chris' plans to dismantle the shower. The Tub-people never again tried to attack him but for the rest of his days Chris stepped into the shower stall with nothing but the greatest dread.

Aw, poor hydrophobic sim. That must be damned awkward - and smelly!

RE: Assorted stories
I love hydrophobic sims. I need to add that trait to more of my Ficus clan. Oh, and Howie from TS4 met an untimely end due to boredom (mine, not his). I suspect I'll be doing nothing but TS3 stories from now on (unless I can find a story amidst my TS4 pics)

RE: Assorted stories
Cracking open the Ficus family vault for a story from University.

Young Dr. Ficus
Remembering his grandfather Andrew's glorious medical career Ethan found a decent med school and got to work. During his third year Ethan found himself a very frustrating case. Mr. Boneapart came to see him with several strange symptoms that eluded diagnosis. It did not help that he refused to take his prescription. Ethan was very patient at first.

But as summer turned into fall he found himself becoming more and more short-tempered with his challenging patient. Still, Boneapart kept coming back to see him. There were times Ethan had to remind him that he was just a student and that he was better off seeing a real doctor.

One night while Ethan was brushing his teeth in the dorm bathroom Boneapart came for a visit. "Look, if you'd just use your eyes you'd see I'm in my shorts and getting ready for bed." Ethan grumbled. "Oh... wait. Nevermind."

Then one day Boneapart came over for a farewell visit. He seemed much improved, which pleased and confused Ethan at the same time. It turned out that Boneapart had been suffering from mineral and vitamin deficiency. Now that he was on a calcium-rich diet he was doing much better. Ethan was relieved and promised himself he'd wait until he got his degree before getting another patient.

I have one more Ethan story coming up. It's also on my blog if you want to have a look ahead of time. Thanks and have a good day.

Biggrin This is very funny! I like the way you embrace the absurd so wholeheartedly! Those skeleton things are quite fun - more so than that machine in which you vaporise leaf samples or whatever. I do like chucking those into the bonfire though.

RE: Assorted stories
One of my Ficus branches had a baby recently. When she hit toddler I gave her the hydrophobe trait. The fiendish Mr. Tub might make a comeback.

RE: Assorted stories
Another Ficus University story for your approval.

Scenes from University

Ethan wanted to be a success like his grandfather had been but to be honest, it had taken a push from his big brother to get him out the door. Getting tired of the constant greedy whining Allan declared an ultimatum, "You enroll in University or you can sleep outside! We don't have room for you or for a new computer!"

Seeing the situation for what it was, Ethan raced like a man possessed and got himself enrolled in med school. He wanted to make a good impression on his first day so he got there two hours early.

At a buddy's mixer he pulled out all the stops and got to networking. Not being all that charismatic he made a terrible faux pas while talking to one of the most respected phys. ed students around. The ensuing carnage was frightful.

Then there was that day that someone left the WMD unlocked and Ethan's curiosity got the better of him. Again, the carnage was unspeakable.

He knew it was better to focus on his studies and not on insulting jocks or setting the world on fire. During a phone call home he mentioned how rough it was; studying diseases, anatomy, redheads, blondes... but he knew he had to persevere if he was to succeed.

The news that Ethan was doing so well filled Allan with delight and hope for the future. He decided a compromise was in order. When Ethan got home for Winter Break he found something special by the TV. Overjoyed by this step into the 21st Century Ethan grabbed a controller and joined Willie for a few hours on the couch.

RE: Assorted stories
Joining Willie on the couch sounds fun (sorry, I left my mind in a gutter this morning and it hasn't been returned yet).

I like your sim's university experience. Arriving early for class is one thing - usually in my game the lecturer doesn't show up but everyone writes notes and asks questions regardless!
