The Official Nonsense Thread

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
This afternoon I managed to nearly garotte myself untangling fairy lights. Then arranged them on a little Christmas tree. It's going to look so nice, I thought! Naturally when I pressed the switch, the lights did not come on. Sigh. Sometimes I feel as though I'm auditioning for a part in Fawlty Towers Smile

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
I think I have found the perfect site for getting Christmas gifts!

http://www.thisiswhyimbroke.com/

If I'd discovered this earlier, this is what I'd have got my brother since he's always moaning I don't give him one of these when it comes round to getting him gifts at Christmas or birthdays.

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Alarming experience yesterday evening. Had a long day at work then had to go pick up a Christmas present afterwards, so could not face cooking by the time I was ready to go home. Decided to have fish and chips as a treat Smile

Collected fish and chips and walked home. Upon turning into the drive, an urban fox appeared in front of me. This is not unusual, there are lots of foxes around there. Normally they run away from people. Not this fox - he was after my chips! He started running straight for me! I believe I may have emitted a ridiculous girly squeal before I started legging it!

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Shocked Sounds like it was desperate. Usually they're only that brave in the wee small hours because they're familiar with drunks trying to feed them take aways.

Or maybe he was a door to door sales fox wanting to sign you up for Foxy Bingo Tongue

That said, one of the farmers down the road from us told me years ago about encountering a fox in his backyard. He had a chicken coup, but it had ignored it to go for his bins. When the fox saw him, it ran up to him - it was so used to locals in the nearby village (relocated "townies") leaving out food for them it expected the same.

He clapped his hands to shoo it - he hadn't the heart to blow its head off, first time he'd ever done so. Later on, he decided that had probably been the best from his point of view - foxes are territorial, & having one in his area with zero inclination to hunt but only to scavenge was a lot less to worry about than one with a taste for chickens. But he found it worrying that wildlife were becoming so dependent on people to a passive extent: no longer trying to get food even by stealth, let alone hunt. Farmers & foxes may not be best friends, but tame foxes meant more rats, & rats are something no one wants around, on a farm or elsewhere. Plus a nice smelly fox going through his fields helped deter the bunnies.

I didn't quite know what to make of his claims, until I heard about London foxes being found dead from heart disease caused by eating too many discarded McDonalds Sick

The foxes near me shouldn't be hungry, they have loads of squirrels to eat. However I'm sure fish and chips are more appetising than some stringy old squirrels :-)

RE: The Official Nonsense Thread
Yay - I am in the 500s!

As a sister of a brother, I can advise that it is a sisterly duty to appreciate gifts provided by brothers. My brother could give me a bunch of sticks from the garden and I'd still like them. If he bought me perfume that would obviously be better. Fortunately this year mine is buying me SN and Seasons.
