SimsForums.net Rules & Guidelines
SimsForums.net Rules and Guidelines

Welcome to SimsForums.net! Sims 3 is a fun, laid back game, and we want to keep that atmosphere on the forums too. However, there are a few rules and guidelines we must enforce to keep the forums a pleasure to use. Please take a few moments to review the following rules and guidelines:

[*] No swearing - This is a forum aimed at all ages and therefore swearing has no place here, for any reason, including quotations of others.

[*] No spamming - A link in your sig and/or mentioning another fan site within the context of a discussion is fine, but posting a dedicated topic about your site or sending private messages to other members with links to your site is not allowed. Referral links of any nature also fall under this category. When linking to other fan sites of The Sims, please only do so when necessary - this forum is not intended to be a links directory.

[*] No flaming - Antagonistic, slanderous, racist, or sexist comments will not be tolerated.

[*] No ripping - Stealing other people's work and claiming it as your own; be it sig images or game mods.

[*] No pornography - Linking to or directly posting any media containing nudity or s3x.

[*] No piracy - Linking to, requesting or discussion of illegally obtaining unlicensed copyrighted material.

[*] Signatures must be of a reasonable size. - A guideline maximum is 500 pixels wide by 150 pixels tall. Wider signatures will prevent the forum from displaying correctly on smaller screens. Taller signatures can make topics much longer and hard to follow.

[*] No impersonating forum staff, other members, or EA employees. - In other words, no making fake accounts with other people's names.

[*] Never open multiple accounts, unless you have a legit reason. - Members found using multiple accounts to abuse the forums will be taken care of appropriately.

Please remember that you are a guest on a free service.

Breaking these simple rules may result in locked or deleted topics and/or a message from a moderator. Repeated violation of the rules will result with your account being closed. The whole point of the rules and the moderators isn't to provide strictness for its own sake, as the forum staff is just as interested as having fun here as anyone else.

For the most part, just use some common sense when posting. Like any other forum, there are of course unspoken rules regarding spamming (off topic, short, or otherwise pointless posts), flaming, etc. While such things are not generally enforced on a regular basis, administrative/moderatory action may be taken if such posts become problematic or habitual, thereby causing complaints from other members.

Anything which might be illegal in the real world is also frowned upon here. Things of this nature are an endless list, and again, fall into the realm of common sense. If you're not familiar with how forum communities in general work, or are just unsure of the specifics of the Sims3.com forums, please observe the posts of the majority or don't hesitate to send a private message to a moderator.

Thanks for taking the time to review these rules and guidelines. We hope you enjoy using these forums!

Re: SimsForums.net Rules & Guidelines
I'd just like to remind everyone of this rule please;

dateline= Wrote:Signatures must be of a reasonable size. - A guideline maximum is 500 pixels wide by 150 pixels tall. Wider signatures will prevent the forum from displaying correctly on smaller screens. Taller signatures can make topics much longer and hard to follow.

This rule has been here since the forums started, the rules have been untouched since then, so it's obvious that anyone with big signatures have not payed attention to this rule. We honestly don't mean to be moany and getting on your case, but all we ask is that you follow the rules. All of your signatures are bright and colourful and I certainly love to look at them, but most of them are either too wide, too high or both. If you would like to request an increase on the allotted image size, please use the feedback section of the forums, and we will glady dicsuss it with everyone. Those who have very large signatures will be notified within the next few days.

Please do not hate us for this, we are just abiding the rules, but like I said, if you want to request an upgrade to the size, use the feedback section.

Re: SimsForums.net Rules & Guidelines
I'd just like to take a moment and remind everyone of this rule:

dateline= Wrote:Signatures must be of a reasonable size. - A guideline maximum is 500 pixels wide by 150 pixels tall. Wider signatures will prevent the forum from displaying correctly on smaller screens. Taller signatures can make topics much longer and hard to follow.

As stated previously by Unbreakable, this rule has been here in the Forums since  we started.  The rules remain unchanged since that time, so it's clear to us that anyone with signatures far larger than the requirements stated above has either not payed attention to this rule, or is simply choosing to ignore it.  We don't mean to come off whiny or like Rule-Nazis, nor to be getting on your cases.  However, all we're asking is that you all take a moment to re-read the Forum rules, and make any necessary changes to your signatures.

I know that many of your signatures are bright and colorful and we certainly -do- love to see that, but many of them are becoming either too wide, too high or both.  If you want to see an increase on the allowed image size then please use the Feedback section of the forums with this request and we will discuss it with everyone.  Those who have larger signatures have been, and will continue to be notified within the next few days.

Please do not hate us for this; we are just trying to abide by the rules enforced from the start.  But, like already said today and previously, if you want to request a change to the size please use the Feedback section.

Thank you, Jen
