Problems when loading house
Hello!  I'm fairly new to the Sims world, but I'm addicted...only there's a problem.  It is hit and miss if the game will load.  I have Vista and have changed the compatability to xp, added the firewall, and downloaded the sims2 update.  I am able to get all the way to entering the house and then it freezes...the music continues to play, but I'm unable to do anything except ctrl alt delete to end task.

I've read some where you can update drivers...I'm unsure of how to do this and what I have.  I have a Dell Inspiron.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Re: Problems when loading house
Hello there-

Welcome to the forums! Sorry to hear that you are having problems.

Does your system meet the minimum requirements?

Try running it without the compatibility.

And then, if that doesn't work, let's see what you have so that we can point you in a direction to find your latest drivers-

Go to Start
Under Search, type DXDIAG
Click on DXDIAG
On the bottom of that window, it says to "Save all Information"
Go ahead and save the information to somewhere that you can have easy access to
It will save in a text file so go ahead and copy everything in that file and post it here

We can go from there.

I'm here to help! Send me a private message!

Re: Problems when loading house
I'm going to have you update your driver for your graphics card.

Go here

Start by clicking on 'graphics', 'Desktop graphics controller' OR 'Laptop graphics controller'. Follow the on screen instructions, putting in your chip version and operating system (operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium and chip version is Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family).

Then install the drivers. If they are Zipped, you’ll need to unzip them. Then, just run the installer by double clicking on it, and follow the onscreen instructions.

After they are installed, reboot the computer and try the game. Let me know what happens!

I'm here to help! Send me a private message!

Re: Problems when loading house
I did as you said, but when I went to install I get this message "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer.  Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer.  Setup will exit".  I tried it quite a few times, and made sure I was choosing the correct information.

I hope I'm not a lost cause!  I really want to play!!

Re: Problems when loading house
Hey,

I read up on your problem. You may want to go to Dell directly. They always have the updated drivers for computers. I do it all the time. Just go here and you'll need to insert the info and download any graphic drivers that match your graphic card: http://support.dell.com/support/download...l=en&s=gen

If you are unsure what to download, list the options and I'll help you out the best I can.

Re: Problems when loading house
Did you download the intel driver under video? How about the intel chip set? If this didn't work, then let me know and I'll see if I can help more.
