Mundane Tasks and Time Progression

Mundane Tasks and Time Progression
I just started playing and I was looking for pointers on how to manage mundane tasks like cleaning. sleeping, getting to work while still having time for fun.

For example, my Sim made it fine to his first day of work. So, when he got home I thought it would be fun to go downtown. Well, about 10 minutes of "our time" passed but it was now past midnight on the game clock. By the time he got home and made it to bed -- actually he passed out on the floor -- he missed his carpool and missed going to work. It seems to me that the game clock goes way too fast, and this is with it set to the slowest setting.

Thanks for any tips you might provide.

Hmn. That sounds a bit odd.

When you go to any Community lots, like Downtown, the game clock there differs from the clock at your Sim's home lot.

Say your Sim leaves his house at 7 AM home time
He should arrive Downtown at about 7:30 AM downtown time
He then leaves the Downtown lots at 6 PM lot time
When he gets back home, it should only be bout 8 AM home time

The two clocks are actually different, which is supposed to help our Sims to balance work and fun. Did your Sim get a promotion, and it changed the time he needed to be at work?

Thanks, I didn't realize that locales operated on different clocks.

Yeah, it confused me a bit at first too but I eventually got the hang of it. So if you send your Sim downtown at 7 AM, they get home again at 8 AM and are exhausted, having had a full day of events and all even if their home clock says otherwise lol :3
