Moving to a new house

Hey guys, I'm relatively new to the sims 3 (played the first sims) and i had a question about moving. Currently my house is worth about 40K unfurnished and 80K furnished and i have about 40K saved up. My question is how do i move to a new house or lot without losing my money or my stuff. If i remember correctly in the old sims you were only worth what your house was. If that remains true if i want to move to a new lot should i spend all my money on my house before i move or what. lol i dont really know what im doing and dont want to make a dumb decision. Help a brotha out

While playing as your sims, have a (young) adult/elder use a phone or computer and click on the move option. You will be taken to a screen where you can pack your furniture and sell your home or sell everything.
