Multiple Outfits

Okay, im new to The Sims 3 but i seem to have picked it up quite easily and am now on (and almost finished) the road to being a multi millionaire rock star... there is just one thing that alludes me, i have heard you can 3 outfits for each section of clothing (formal, casual, swim etc) but for the life of me cannot find how to do this... i press "Plan Outfit" on the dresser and then it just looks like normal create a sim with no other option that stand out, im hoping this feature isnt just specific to pc and you can also do it on PS3, if so can someone explain without simply telling me "Press Plan Outfit then press the cross in the corner" because there is no cross... i would SERIOUSLY appreciate if someone could shed some light on this for me.
