Exactly. In the end, I want facts. Imagination works along the way, but I don't want to use it to fill in missing parts at the end of the series.

That's fine. I don't mind if it's rude. And sending the link through a PM works.

I'm here to save the thread! Big Grin Usually I'd leave the job to Supergeek to come to the recue, however he appears to be offline at the moment so I though I'd best do it. Smile

Do you think maybe, and I feel awful saying this seeing as I absolutely adore Jo so very much, but, sometimes I think she was being a tad lazy with the Epilogue. I know she'd had that Epilogue written for about 10 years now, however back then, she had no idea how famous her books were going to be. But seeing how popular they are, you'd think she'd have thought, "Well, I have about 50 million more fans that I did when I wrote this, so there'll be expecting a lot from this Epilogue, especially the hardcore fans. I better put a bit of effort into this and spruce it up a bit." Okay, well, perhaps not a lame as that, but you catch my drift, hopefully. Oh well. The Epilogue was dissapointing, we have to accept that. Sad It didn't really match with the thrilling end Deathly Hallows had. It was weird though, jumping from Harry as a teenager to Harry the middle-aged man. Tongue Big Grin

I totally agree. I've felt that way ever since I read it, but everytime I went online to discuss it, people were throwing punches at Jo and saying it ruined the book. That was just crazy!! So, obviously, I never stated my opinion, as I did not wish to be a part of it.

I hate to say it, too, but it did seem rather lackluster. It seemed like she was just tired of it and didn't really take the time to improve it to the point where fans could go "now THAT was a great ending." Instead, it just left everyone with even more questions.

Now I really want to go reread DH...I'll probably be up all night reading it, now Wink

Re: harry potter? - Cassie - 03-04-2008 02:55 AM

I completely agree. When I finished DH, I admit I closed the book, looked at my cat (she was snuggled on my bed all the way through my reading of DH) and just said "Wow." But that wow was meant for two things. I was thinking, "Wow, I've just finished reading the greatest series to exist after 8 years of waiting for it. It's actually over now." But I was also thinking "Wow, that ending was pretty shabby. She could have done better with that. A lot better." I had very mixed feelings when I finished DH. I did not know whether to jump up and dance, or sit and cry. So I kind of did both. I pranced around the room singing:
"[glow=BLACK,70,300]Voldemort's dead! Harry lived! Voldemort sucks! The trio just kICked some BUTT etc![/glow]" (at this point my cat ran off in utter alarm) and then sat back down and cried. I was very confused with my emotions at the time lol.

I wish I could go and reread again for the millionth time (it just never gets boring!) but I'm currently reading another book. Do you ever just miss HP while you're reading a different book? I just miss Ron and Hermione and Harry and Hogwarts just so much, whatever book I'm reading. You can't ever find an atmosphere like you get in HP. The book I'm reading now, I love the series it's from, I've read it a few times before, but I still miss reading HP so bad. Sad

Same here Smile I had very mixed feelings once I finished. I was extremely sad, kind of disappointed, thrilled, shocked, amazed, excited, etc. etc. etc. My heart was racing! Big Grin

I always miss HP when I'm reading a different book (unless the other book happens to be really interesting Wink). I definitely agree about the atmosphere - it's one of a kind. It's truly magical.

What book are you reading now?

Edit: Haha, nice one, Paul. Big Grin Maybe we should stop bugging Matt and start bugging Jo Wink

Re: harry potter? - Cassie - 03-04-2008 03:17 AM

New Moon, it's a part of The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyor. Don't get me wrong, her creations are truly amazing, I get so engagaged in her books, I've read the series 3 times now (admitedly nowhere near as many times as HP lol) and still I get lost in it, but there's never going to be any book that matches Harry Potter to me. I don't get the magical feeling like I do with HP. Smile

And you know what? I really think Jo will do another book! Maybe we'll have to wait ten years, but I really think she will. I don't know what she would do it about (who knows how it works in that amazing mind of hers?), but I just have a feeling she has it all planned out. It's probably just me, but I just thought I'd let you know. Wink

I adore The Twilight Series Big Grin I met Stephenie Meyer at a book raffle, once Wink But I agree, nothing will compare to HP.

I do, too! She's very good at keeping things secret, yet she puts out all the clues you need to figure out what she's thinking. Then, once her secret is revealed, you're like "well, DUH! Why didn't I think of that??" She's a genius, really. The whole "never say never" thing is the most obvious, but she's put out other hints as well.

Re: harry potter? - Cassie - 03-04-2008 04:22 AM

I agree, that's why I think she'll be releasing another book, particularly because of the "never say never" saying that she uses so often. That's pretty much, "Yes, of course I am, are you stupid? You look it."

And I can't believe you met Stephenie Meyer too! You really have met some amazing people! Who next, the Queen? Big Grin
And I'm glad you like the Twilight Series too! We're like twins, we have so much in common it's just not funny. Big Grin

And I just had to add this, sorry:

Totally Big Grin She's so good at making one's head spin, though. You'll think she means one thing, and she means something totally different that you'd never think of. Then, she'll say something, you'll think of the obvious meaning and go "no, that can't be right" and move on...and it ends up being right after all Wink

Would it scare you too much if I said "yup, I've met the Queen"? Big Grin I'm telling you, I have a very exciting life.

I know, it's absolutely crazy how similar we are. I swear, if it weren't for the very slight age difference, I would totally think you were my long-lost twin.

And that just happens to be one of the most adorable things ever Wink I seriously "Awww!"ed for, like, 15 seconds.
