I'm surprised, I thought Canada would say football tbh. ;O
We call it football because a foot connects to a ball. Where the hell did soccer come from? xD

I have no idea tbh.
We have AFL. I guess it was so we could determine the difference between the two sports. In AFL, they acutally kick the ball. xD

back then in America, they played 'soccer' with 'socks' (that's my personal conclusion XD)
The British invented Football, full name Association football, the term football is the formal name while soccer is its nickname that was created by the English inorder to distinguish it from rugby football. Soccer became a shortened reference to the word asSOCiation football. Therefore, Football's nickname soccer is often used to refer to football in countries where another form of football exist...example..
America = Gridiron (american football)
Australia = Aussie Rules (australian football)
Although...Australia have now referred back to the formal name Football having replaced soccer with Football in its official title.
Answer
In Football, the term "soccer" is simply a nickname for association. As in the football association...the English gave it the nickname.
Rugby is the nickname for rugby union BUT NOT Rugby League
Answer
Soccer is a nickname for Football. It comes from the Football association. The nickname for rugby union is rugger.
However the terms rugby union and Football are used in all official meetings. The Olympics and FIFA aswella s the FA use the term Football.

I've never been into Sports. I exercise [uh... ocasionally... {whistle}], but don't have time for Sports. Although I am an amazingly fast runner [bless my long legs, haha], so I always won rounders games and races when I was at school. x]

Some people do, it's becomming more common. But people play American footbal here, too. Oh well, I'm not a big fan of either. So it doesn't make much difference to me. xD
Anyone here tried to sit through a hockey game? Isn't just awful?
