Hey! Sorry it took me so long to respond...there was a lot to catch up on! Plus, I had problems connecting my computer earlier, so almost as soon as I posted this, I had to leave for the Q&A session and dinner. We're having drinks now, but I thought I'd sneak away and post a bit. I'm so impressed that you all managed to stay up this late for it! Proves you're true fans.
I was going to post a REALLY detailed review, but as so many of you are tired, I figure I'll just post some really great details now and have a full report for you tomorrow.
So, they basically talked about the game, answered (some) questions about the game (sme they "couldn't talk about" yet, but oh well
), and showed us some of the gameplay (by us, I mean roughly 25 people from 18 different countries). Anyhoo, some good points of interest:- Weather is NOT official in the base game yet. The pictures were decieving. They could not comment on whether it WAS going to be in the game or not, but they could tell us that it is definitely not official.
- One second in Sim's Time = one minute real time.
- You can work on aspects of your job outside of work (through the Oppertunity System), but you can not actually watch them at work.
- The mailbox is moveable.
- Sims still spin around to change, and trashbags still appear from nowhere.
- There will be six life stages, one of which is a fully fledged version of Young Adult. Young Adult is actually the default stage in CAS.
- There are about 75 traits that are nearly official, including everything from evil to excitable to slob.
- My FAVOURITE part of the new info - adjustable skintones and eye colours. There are presets, of course, but there is are also slidebars, palettes, AND spectrums (mainly for the eyes). And you can save any colour you pick as a preset. Trust me, it's better than it sounds.
- Height is also not official. In fact, they couldn't comment on that, either. In the beta, there is no slidebar for height.
- There is more gameplay centered around pregnancy, but they could not comment on what the actual birth would be like.
- In accordance to that, they could not comment about the hospital. In fact, none of the interactive buildings are completely official yet.
- The environment is more interactive. You can fish in the pond, walk on the beach...but you can't swim in the ocean.
- The Mac version will NOT be released with the PC version, but it will probably be released eventually.
- Rod Humble says that "the basegame is more than adequate" in response to what features from Sims 2 EPs will be in the basegame.
- Some funny glitches and beta-bits to wrap this up for the night -
- Rubber ducks drive the taxis for now as they work on the taxi drivers. (I LOVED that part!)
- Cars occassionally detour off the road and start to fly.
- The shower occassionally breaks, flooding the bathroom and not allowing you to fix it.

and cars flying? I love that! And yes, the rubber ducky glitch is very funny. I wonder what a duck would like to be payed with?

Aww, you're welcome. I really wish I had time to post everything now. But I'm sure you'd rather I spread them out...it makes it even more exciting.

Yes, the car flying was a riot! But Lindsay made a point of showing us the rubber duck, and I just thought it was too cute. They have a really fun office that I'll go into detail about tomorrow.
