I wear thongs and I think they're comfortable...except for if they are pulled up a little too high, then they kind of hurt.
I wear them because im always paranoid that im going to have panty lines. Luckily all of mine are low rise, but I have one that isn't and I have to be careful what pants I wear it with. I think twice I have worn it with these one jeans and it was very visible! So embarrasing, when taylor yells across the room, "regan I can see your thong!" in french, and no one told me that you could see it earlier that day in english. My crush is in that class.
I give my close friends thongs for gifts. Its not weird or awkward. My friend, hillary actually asked for thongs specifically for her birthday.

All the dance majors are really close. We are one of the smallest majors at my school, and when you practically live in the dressing room with each other from 6th grade to senior year, everyone gets very close.
