I completely agree, which is a shame, because so many people who never got chance to play The Sims do have a tendency to be rude about it (graphics, mostly) but they were really good for it's time, as was the game as a whole; it wouldn't be the number 1 selling PC game of all time had it not.
It still sold more than TS2 has ever sold yet.

Well it is a little but hey, better to start on Sims 2 than Sims 8 like some future kids may have to.
