Simple in the U.S. education is not priority anymore. This says for both parents and schools. First whenever we run into budget problems the first thing is to cut education. We're using these old rundown schools that aren't even equipped to teach kids on today's standard. Schools still have 80's standards and we all know where that's headed. Education is always put on the back burner. I think here in Maryland they are about to fire some more teachers or close another school and library soon.
Second is the parents of the terrible kids. They get sent to school without a care in the world. The parents don't care what the kids learn and for the most don't care about learning.. I once saw a student punch a teacher and was sent to the office. They called the student's mother and when she got there, she was mad at the teacher for doing that. It's disturbed that a lot of parents condone that behavior but at the same time encourage it. It's very hard to keep a class under control when both everything you do is wrong and the parents will back that up. for example if a teacher is attacked by a studdent if the teacher defends his/herself: they can be fired, sued and or thrown in prison. I guess its because lot of parents these though are just kids themselves ranging from 14 to 18 years old and don't have the maturity to raise kids.
About the other languages thing. I have no idea why we don't. I guess we don't have enough teachers or funding.

My parents will kill me if I had done that behavior. Right now In Tennessee they are making making high school career academies for the public schools. The career academies are split up in certian subjects like health, art, and technology diffrent each school has diffrent things. The kids learn the subjects that you would need to become what you are interested in. I think its an ok Idea,but I got to a magnet school that I like. The magnet school that I go to is where you do hands on learning,and project work. Its also mandatory to find a internship in the career that you are interested in. Right now only language class that we have is spanish :l. ok back on topic I still hoping for a cas demo type thing before sims 3 release date.

of topic: i'm sorry if i insult anyone here but i don't really have a good opinion on american schools; i've been to the US a few times and i have to say there are a lot of idiots (not that belgium is idiot free or something
) my ex-bf went to a college in texas and the math he saw there was stuff i had seen in the 8th grade, like wth...if most americans went to a belgian college then they would have to work a lot harder or they would fail. and what shocked me the most is that baptist colleges get to include creationism (adam and eve from the bible- theory) in biology yet the teacher gets to decide not to give darwin's evolution theory, that's just crazy. i've been going to a catholic school since i was 3 and i was never forced into being catholic, and at my school there were even autentic nuns so yah. american schools help strengthen the opinion europeans have about americans and that is that they're not very bright and lazy.
