Most likely, EA told retailers, but if EA told them, then would their release date be TBD, or are they following the rumors that all happened last week by that girl and stuff? Plus, it only happened with European retailers, so it has to effect Europe then.
But when they say:

and
"Helping make The Sims 3 a huge success." (They want to get this game right)
Makes me worried, I wish they can just say it already.
I hate to disagree with you Suggie.. but they are talking about the launch window for the release date not loading window you see when the game is started.
Well this sucks. I was being optimistic and saying all those rumours are full of crap but in this interview it is actually quoting EA........... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr {cursing} {cursing} {cursing}

Well I went searching and found another article.
It at least says that EA SAYS they can't say more until Feb 3. So now we know how long "in the future" is.

I know that EA wants us to enjoy the game and what not, but come on, this is the last week of January, couldn't they have just told us this at the beginning of this month that there would be a possibility. This angers me to no end, its like what are you guys doing. If they say okay, we will only delay for about a month or two which releasing it in March or April, I can deal with that, because those months will be here very soon, but hopefully it won't extend until fall quarter or winter quarter, because that is just wrong. its just wrong. >:-(. Hopefully Feb. 3rd will be addressed that the Sims 3 has went gold, meaning that its in the final process before shipment.

i can't see how they'd delay it since those people who had that target coupon (i think thats what its called) can only use it till april or so, unless they found a way around that and u can trade it in for another one or something. i dunno this is very frustrating, there is no actual proof and its just confusion the crap out of us fans.
edit: it seems like belgian/dutch stores are changing their dates at random, the only ones keeping their dates are the american one, i'm guessing they're the only ones not changing since they don't give in to the rumors? i dunno...seems rather weird that a store just set it's date to june 14th. which a way too long delay, yer codes from that coupon wouldn't even work anymore

They better work, a lot of people would be mad to had bought that target coupon, even if they bought it for the CD, then the car code for the CE, that people have at home, especially me, I would be mad if that can't be used. They better take out the price of that car code...I know it isn't free...everything costs...if they cancel their promotions.
I mean, why did they freaking announce the date so early and wait so late not to be sure, but it still isn't official. It's still coming from 3rd party sites, and game developers just like to act stupid when big games are coming out, all people do. Can't wait till the press release or anything. I'm having faith though.

I dont believe not one thing that Im hearing or reading...Im not going to get mad..Im going to think positive and I know for a fact..that the 20th of february is the release date..no exceptions..all the other games that were promised to come out on their released date, came out..and the companies probably were doing the same thing for certain games that they new had a lot of fans..and so on..so on..I dont believe it and I will never take my mind off the fact that the sims3 is still less than a month away from being on my computer flatout....skip this crap..first it was a rumor..now its even more chaos..I dont believe it and Im not going to read no more bullcrap..Im still happy and thinkn that the sims3 is on its way...soo im not mad..Im happy as hell...the sims is on its way..and I know it..skip that media bullcrap entainment crap..its just bein said to make us mad...but they cant fool me...nope..not at all

I just read them cause the comments are funny reading everyone panic. Everyone is freaking out we will know febuary 3rd when ea gives out information about sims 3. Most likely it won't get delayed it might have a few bugs in it on release date,but they can will release a patch for that soon after.
