Right now I am thinking about the hilarity that may ensue when a family I saw this morning in a cafe get home.
My Head of IT and I had a lot of errands to run so we scampered around various shops and the post office and then stopped for a toasted sandwich in a new cafe. The place was packed full of yummy mummies with their ill-behaving sproglings and young couples drinking flat whites and reading their Guardians. Anyway, there was one woman who was annoying the hell out of me by talking excessively loudly to (actually more like at) her husband, mostly about building a conservatory (which sounded like a hideous construction) and generally berating him for his alleged domestic misdemeanours. Poor sod. Meanwhile she is paying no attention to her toddler, who (to my immense delight!) has managed to open a full bottle of maple syrup and squirt it inside his shirt. Toddler is duly packed back into his pushchair and off they go, toddler squirming delightfully in his syrupy shirt. Fantastic.

It defiantly wouldn't help my migraines. So far it's just a gimmick but I think sometime In the near future that kind of technology will become more mainstream.

I don't like eating in public places (although a few years ago when I was on evening shifts all the time I became a pub diner regular) & this is why. Manners & decorum count for nothing nowadays & all too many places are like several individual chimps tea parties. My brother & his wife can't get enough of them as they're avid "people watchers". Me, I get depressed watching evolution going backwards.
Conservatories. I remember sleeping in one in the house of the girl I think I mentioned before that I'd discovered had died from a brain tumour, after a party in which she'd concocted the most lethal cocktail I had ever drank & will never drink again from the hangover I got from it. They're roasting hot in the summer even by early morning.
Gawd, I still remember that party - all of us were effectly unemployed at the time (temp job to temp job), all having graduated from uni two years before with honours degrees. They were also private school educated, but even their old school tie network was saying "sorry, the job market's screwed".
While they were all swapping tales of life in the limbo world, on the music centre Jarvis Cocker started belting out, "You'll never live like common people, you'll never do whatever common people do, you'll never fail like common people, you'll never watch your life slide out of view, so you dance and drink and screw, because there's nothing else to do."
I started laughing, but I never explained to them why. One of those private jokes that never comes out right in the explanation.

No way will I touch it. A few pedestrian deaths while crossing roads should be enough to get the message over how dumb & dangerous it is.

Hi Minty, I agree with you that manners are seriously lacking these days and that other people can impair your enjoyment of public places, but I still love eating out. If I didn't have my meals out and theatre trips to look forward to, living in the capital would be pretty unbearable for me.
Ollie, your school sounds like an excessively exciting place to attend! Hope you'll tell us more about this failed inferno.

Well it was either one of two people sitting at the back of class. The 'genius' who did started to burn a piece of crunched up paper and chucked it in the back of the classroom. After about 5 or 10 minutes of smelling smoke, the class found out where it was coming from. What's funny is that the paper had barely burnt over the ten minutes, there was barley even a flame coming from the paper, so talk about failure if you want to be an arsonist at least know how to light a fire.
And no, it wasn't that creepy person who got his arm slashed (he rarely even goes to school, I don't think).
Indeed my school is very exciting. The only thing that happened at my old school was the toilets being trashed and all the boys having to stay back after school because of it. I kind of like this excitement for whatever reason, sadly this time I wasn't on TV like I was on for a split second during the last incident at school.
