Maybe you want to use this update list that I made. It has all the cards capable of playing The Sims 3 without any problemo.

In order of performance. (Note: X2 cards have twice the power than their siblings. E.g 4870X2 is better than the 4890)
ATI Radeon HD 4000 Series:

Radeon HD 4870

Radeon HD 4850
Radeon HD 4830 (Discontinued, replaced by 4770)
