I certainly wouldn't want a phobic sim running around because of multiple bad experiences that could be resolved but won't because the game won't let them. Well think of it this way, in real life you have attachments to certain places and people. That doesn't take over your life. As far as sims having positive feelings towards places, this would just enhance situations, not drastically, but give it a special boost. Concerning negative associations, these would resolve themselves over time. If a girl rejects a guy for a date then he might avoid her for a day. Then he would get over it. If someone is left at the altar, they might be really antsy the next time they were going to get married. I wasn't ever thinking about this as being a HUGE component of the game. Just something that would kind of quietly enhance the sim experience

Re: Reacting to Memories: The Happy, the Sad and the Tragic.
i would love for memories to be more than something the computer just keeps track of..
i want my sims to remember (for real this time) i love the moodlets idea and how they could be good or bad depending on the memory.. it could be a good challenge to add to the game depending on how much their mood is affected by the memory.. |

I don't want it to be some major ingredient to this game that overpowers the other flavours, should I say, I just wanted it to be there as a small, quiet enhancement. It will never dratsically change things, it will just add that little bit more to the game. To be honest, this idea is never going to weave together any dramas or other super-exciting situations you guys may have thought about in the past, but altogther it's interesting and it's real, and I feel that reacting to those memories is vital in TS3. And most grudges will last only a few days, except those stubbon-traited Sims, who won't forgive and forget easily. ![]() |

Re: Reacting to Memories: The Happy, the Sad and the Tragic.
yeah i just want it in a sense to affect their moods and how they act for the day or week
not be a huge new feature or anything cause there are better things that could be added as well..so i dont want this one thing to overpower something else that could have been even cooler.. if that makes any sense. |

No, it makes complete sense, I feel the same way. It seems like a big thing the way I posted it, but when it comes alive in the game (well, if it does) you'd see that it wouldn't really overpower any of the better features. Reacting to memories is better than nothing at all, I feel.

Re: Reacting to Memories: The Happy, the Sad and the Tragic.
those are wonderful, great idea's.
memories were rather a nuisance in TS2. all i did with them was edit them with simpe, so a sim doesn't remember ROACHES for the rest of their lives. and with OFB, Like you would ever remember a sim you met whilst sellling some cheap sculptures. most people wouldn't remember them past a couple of days or so. (and meet sim memories CLOGGED up all of the nice, pretty colourful memories lol) all memories did in the game was that they would occasionallly pop up in a thought bubble over a sims head. i love your idea's though, you two so excellently desrve some good karma! i also hope sims will be able to forget memories aswell. I always go through my sims memories and look and the different colors. I feel the more colorful the more successful my sims life. On topic, I think memories could actually serve a purpose in this game. One way or another we know the sims have at least some sort of conciousness of what they've done. |

Re: Reacting to Memories: The Happy, the Sad and the Tragic.
It'd be nice if they could remember things that friends and family pointed out in conversation - what if a Sim mentioned while conversing with a friend (Simlish, of course, we'd see it through speech bubble) that their favourite colour is green? And then, on that Sims birthday, their friend will rememeber that and buy them something green, like a green shirt or jumper (sweater, to most of you). I just thought that would be rather cute. {unsure}

Re: Reacting to Memories: The Happy, the Sad and the Tragic.
That would be neat! They could remember little details of other Sims personalities. And if a Sim is trying to "woo" another Sim, they could use those bits of information to win them over and the like.

Re: Reacting to Memories: The Happy, the Sad and the Tragic.
Yeah, remember all of their favourite things, from fave books, to clothes, to genre of music, so they know what to buy. And they could also try to remember a Sims' favourite place, if they plan to take them out on a date or something.
