I think they're kind of selfish fans. They might be happy with TS2, so they can just carry on with it! But why deny the fans who want more, what they want?

About that boring part of The sims, I think TS2 got a bit boring after a while, because you actually only lived in your home. Ofcourse, you can call a cab and go out with friends, family or all alonesome, but still...
And now in TS3 you can just think like: 'you know what? I'm going to my neighbors! Just for the fun, see what they been up to!' 
I think that that is such a big difference in the 2 games, and I guess that TS3 won't get so boring quickly!
