Re: Securcom?
First of all a big HELLO to everybody. I'm new here.
![]() Now, about Securom, I have a strong opinion. For me, as an honest buyer it is both useless in the fight against piracy and an annoyance for honest customers. It is going to destroy the Sim Community in the end. Here's an example why. I think even the most business case oriented business case manager in this money grabbing business case world is going to understand my point. Well, I for example bought all the games, all expansions and never allowed anybody to copy my game - the true fan prefers to buy it anyway and if somebody wants to simply try out they can do so on my notebook. Guess what several people tried it out and everybody who liked it went to buy the game. None of them even bothered to ask for a ripped copy - not that I'd ever bother to make one. Too much work and where is the support for the artists who create our Sims stuff. Oh no. We customers are much more loyal than EA Games think. I think Maxi people know but EA managers are business case people. I hope they realize they are going to loose a big part of their Simming Community when they bug us with Securom. Securom is not only a big annoyance. I have a Mac for instance, but play Sims on my Windows XP partition...But I never go online with Windows because it's so unsafe...Now Securom would force me to go online with Windows and I think that would be the moment where I would say: No thanks. I'm not going to put up with that. Love the game but this goes too far. I'm sure I'm not the only one to make such a decision. Also because Securom is a significant security issue. It can crap up your files and even more importantly spy out your data and deliver it to any company that pays the programmers of Securom to get some useful data to get TOTAL control over some useful customer (business cases in their language) - NO THANK YOU KEEP YOUR CRAP I'LL GO FIND SOME OTHER GAME Sincerely, Lady Annabell Cross the wounded Galaxies |

![]() Anyway, I have a question: Do you have to register EVERY EP and the BASE GAME or only the base game, or only the last EP installed? |

Re: Securcom?
What about poor players on dial-up. they would have enormous phone bills if the game kept logging on. {cursing}

Re: Securcom?
I've probably missed it, but where did this information about having to register every 10 days come from? As far as I know, Securom does not do this.

Re: Securcom?
Again, this is what I was wondering. We all (myself included) got swept up in this, and we're not even sure that it's true yet. Source, anyone?
Love your post, by the way, Lady Annabell.
