Lucky Palms - a new world from EA
Just watched the replay of the Live Chat for the new casino-in-a-desert world, Lucky Palms. Well, not all of it, the chat was really really really long so I skipped through some parts Smile

I didn't expect to like the new world - after Hidden Springs and Lunar Lakes I thought I'd had enough of towns built around mountains, but now I think it looks interesting. I like that sims will be able to steal coins from the wishing well! I also like the fact that it comes with plenty of new plants and trees. I could do with some cacti for some of my sims' houses. The new water texture looks interesting and the sunset that they showed was really nice, based on Arizona's sunsets apparently, not that I've seen one of those. The new bistro looks cool and some of the houses are fun. I also liked that they had created a sort of backstory from RL relating to the dried-up lake beds in the town.

I think I'll get it. See if my sim can make some simoleons in the casino! Smile

I see Lucky Palms is now available. Might download it at the weekend. I really do want cacti!

I watched the chat, I've seen many users on the TS3 forum posting pictures, and I really really want it! I just don't want to buy it right now as I'm broke as a joke Tongue

Yes it's pretty expensive. Things in the Store are overpriced in general.

RE: Lucky Palms - a new world from EA
Started a new game and moved my sim into a house in the poorer part of Lucky Palms. It's right next to the military base, so she can hear a frightening wake-up trumpet at 5am! My poor sim, I've really put her through the mill recently. I popped the casino down in the big obvious space that EA kindly left for it; Caspin the sim immediately gets hooked on gambling. That combined with her penchant for a drink could be the ruin of her. Oh well.

Anyway, here is a rather beautiful sunrise:

They've done something really great with the light effects and with the water effects in this town.

I've seen a lot of pictures of this world on the Sims 3 forum and it looks a lot better than any other world I've seen EA make! Really impressive! I also like all the empty lots as I would need them for the lots from the various EPs.

RE: Lucky Palms - a new world from EA
My favourite bit of the town is out by the dried up lake beds - they have a bunch of residential properties there that are converted commercial properties, as though the town centre was once there but the town died when the lakes dried up. It's really well done - with a house made out of a theatre and so on. My sim is living in one of the buildings there now, I'm going to get her to try them all out.

From the pictures I've seen, my favorite part of town is the modern type houses. I don't remember who lives in the house but the one that's really modern that has red, white, and black on the outside is my favorite.
