RE: The New Official Movie Thread
Watched "Tintin & The Secret Of The Unicorn" last night since for some reason they were allowing it to be watched for free on the On Demand channel.

Holy schmoley, it was brilliant - like the Indiana Jones movies back in the days when they were good. I love it when you get a movie you think's just going to be a background filler whilst you use the laptop in only for it to turn out to be top trumps! The set pieces in the chase scenes were particularly fab, the battle on the sailing ships class, & I liked the joke at the start when Tintin goes to get a cartoon version of himself drawn by an artist, which of course ends up looking exactly like the classic version of Tintin.

I remember the old cartoon series, & it was okayish. When I first saw what the "realistic" animated version was going to look like I was totally switched off. Really glad now I have seen it, & hope there's more to come if they can keep this sort of standard up.

Ah yes that Tintin movie was very enjoyable. I watched it in the cinema in 3D, which I normally don't like, but I loved the way they'd animated it. Some of the chases made it feel like we were on a rollercoaster, it was so immersive. I heart Snowy!

Still haven't managed to get to the cinema to see the Hobbit because 75% of this household is now sick. Sad Thank goodness for Christmas box sets!

RE: The New Official Movie Thread
Last night I finally went to see the Hobbit film. The person purchasing the tickets bought them for 'premier' seats because it was going to be such a long film that they thought we'd better go for the comfy option. Crazily, these seats are not only wider, better spaced out and more plush than standard seats, they are also higher, as in further from the ground. This meant that my feet could not actually touch the floor, so I was sat there with my legs swinging!

Apart from the usual annoyances of close proximity to the general public (which on this occasion included a large group of international students translating the film for each other, a guy having a fight with his girlfriend who ended up with popcorn dumped over his head and girlfriend walking out in a rage, plus the usual people who turn on their very bright iPhones every ten minutes to check facebook/twitter), the film was OK but not a patch on the LOTR films. Towards the beginning I was worried I'd misunderstood and it was going to be a musical. Dwarves like to sing it would seem. I thought Martin Freeman was good though.

I just watched Dog Days + The Dictator and I'm very impressed. It's been a long time since I watched a movie.

Can someone recommend me another good comedy movies? Preferably not older from 2006.

Comedy movies .... not sure I have any recommendations. I seem to have watched a lot of animated movies recently, but that's OK because I love Pixar Smile
