How do you put mods in the sims 2?

I only did a little bit of it for TS1, and I was wondering how do you make and download mods, like hair, for instance, into TS2, and how do you get it into the game? Also, does it take up a lot of memory from your computer?

I download the CC and open the files with Winrar, and put the extracted package files into the My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads folder. Then I always use to delete the rar and zip files.

Okay. So now how do I make mods? Do I have to have a special program or just CAS?

If you mean CC :

You can do simple recolours with bodyshop.
But for completely new hairstyles or clothes you need a meshing tool like Milkshape.
There are lots of tutorials on  MTS2.

But if you mean mods as in real mods and hacks you need some coding skills.

it really irritates me when it wont let me download the pacifier mesh on MTS2
and how it won't let me down load the inTeenment or whatev to get ur sims preggers(

yeah, I guess if it's on the sims2 website it should be pretty safe.
