Skills Associated with Jobs

Skills Associated with Jobs
Though I haven't really heard much about skills. I'm guessing that some traits will give gaining skills a lot less hassle. For example. Being a nautural cook as a trait will most likely boost your skills up and you can gain an easy job at being a chef or a cook at the local bistro. This is just my observation.

I've read in the few articles that we've seen, but I'm not sure if it will be final. What do you all think about integrating skills with traits? Starting from the bottom, and being a great cook because of your naturalistic cooking trait just seems odd to me.

In life, if you have good skills, you usually don't start as a dishwasher because you have what it takes to be a chef. It would make promoting a lot easier, and less harder which may be an issue for those who don't like "cheats" but I think it's kind of lame if there is a family of four and the only job the mom and dad can get are at the bottom of the food chain.  :-\

I think in CAS, you should have the option of giving your sim a job right then and there. And, for those who would rather search, that option could be there as well.

Re: Skills Associated with Jobs
What you are saying about starting at the bottom is true.

I like the idea about giving them jobs in cas.
It would make more sense to be able to do it this way, I hate having to give sims jobs they don't want just to feed them and pay the bills.  Smile

Re: Skills Associated with Jobs
Well on the computer if you search for a job, it gives you a higher level based on skills.

I really wonder how skills will work. Apparently you now know recipes instead of having points. Or maybe you'll have both, you can learn recipes but how much skill you have affects whether or not you set yourself on fire.

I wonder how many different variations of food there are. It would kind of suck to only have recipes for like 20 foods. I want at least 80.

Re: Skills Associated with Jobs
Both of you have good points.

I didn't know the comp gave you better jobs based on skill, I think it have you more options because the internet always has more jobs because of how broad it is. I've had sims with no skills get more of an option only because they had a comp.

I do hope there are tons of foods, I mean I wonder how in depth the ingredients will get. Will veggies and beef make beef stew or do you need each and every ingredient...? Um sure they won't make it too hard on us, not every gamer can cook lol.

Ho hum, I hope we get way more options then we'd imagine. I really think they will blow us out of the water with this one.

Re: Skills Associated with Jobs
I definitely agree that a sim should have a higher chance of getting a promotion if they're personality trait correlated with their career. A natural cook should naturally have the advantage towards someone who's personality trait has no relation to cooking. Like klepto's should have an easier time getting a promotion in the crime career track, and so on. =)

Re: Skills Associated with Jobs
think a sim should have the options of which jobs s/he can apply to based on there qualafications
i don'treally like it when in the sims 2 a sim just looks at a news paper or a computer and can choose any job s/he wants
also if there'll be something like uni graduates shouldn't start any job at a higher level maybe it can help in another way like getting jobs more easily (i think there should be like a job interview or something like that)

Re: Skills Associated with Jobs
I like the idea of job interviews...but I think it should only be for higher level jobs. Maybe like 4 and up. It would kind of annoy me to have to go to an interview for being a dishwasher.

I'm also wondering about the ingredients. Do you have to have all the specific kinds of food now...or can you still just cook with "groceries?" It would be cool to have to buy chicken, lettuce etc. but I guess this means we'll also have to go shopping a lot more often because we'll use certain ingredients more than others and then have to refill them.

it will be easyer to shop now i think....
and yes you shouldn't have to interview for a dishwasher position but there should be like an assigned number of people that can be in any specific job the lower level jobs can have a larger number of people that can do them but you can only have like 1 mayor or 2 science teachers and if you try and get the job you won't nececeraly get it

I think I would like to be able to buy groceries more often. I think it makes things more realistic, and perhaps if they want they can order them online. You can do that now.

Nope, not just more options. Higher level jobs if you have the skills for them. This might have come with an expansion pack though.
