I just 'logged in' to a previous save and for some reason, as you can see from the print screen, all my TS3 character icons disappeared from the side and that random TS2 Sim was just... there.

In TS2 graphics and everything.. in my TS3 game.
O.O

I pressed spacebar and she left and my character icons reappeared.

I think they're both good but...

TS2 has better qualities about it. It was more... Simmish.
If I could just have TS2 with a neighbourhood like you have in TS3 I'd be set.

Call me weird, but I like TS3 better.  The reason we love TS2 so much is because of all the CC and expansions and stuff packs.  TS3 is very new still. Give it time, and it will be better than TS2 XD They did a big risk by changing it so much, but I think they did a great job
